Overview

The Gamla Nature Reserve is nestled atop the ancient city of Gamla and is surrounded by breathtaking nature and landscapes. This historical nature reserve contains trails for both families and advanced hikers as well as many ancient artifacts. From a cliff-edge observation point, see rare species of birds of prey including the largest flock of Griffon vultures in Israel.

View Israel’s highest waterfall at 50 meters, a ritual bath, a church from the Byzantine era and an aqueduct. See several dolmens which are 4000 year old massive, table-shaped stone burial monuments and one of the oldest known synagogues in the world among the ruins of Gamla, a Second Temple period city. Don’t miss the arrowheads and ballista balls that were flung by the Roman catapults during the great revolt against the Romans in 67 CE.

Take a moment to remember the Golan’s first settlers who fell in Israel’s wars at the memorial.
