Overview

Established by the SPNI (Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel) in the 1950s, the Beit Ussishkin Nature Museum was created to commemorate the nature, animal life and history of the Hula Valley before the swamp was drained. Within the unique architecture of the stone building designed by Leopald Krakauer, learn about about the zoology, botany and archaeology of the Hula Valley, Mount Hermon, Golan Heights and the Jordan River.

Don’t miss the artifacts excavated at the nearby Tel Dan spanning four Biblical eras, including the time of Abraham, the Judges, the Israelite period and the divided Kingdom. View tens of mounted animals within 3-D dioramas of their habitats, and displays of local animals (some no longer seen in the area such as the Darter or “Snake Bird”), insects, fish, and a large butterfly collection. View an audio-visual presentation about nature in the Hermon and Jordan reserves and take a guided tour of the museum, a biblical stories tour or choose a professional tour for bird watchers, ecologists, geologists or historians. For groups, the museum offers educational activities, nature films, games and competitions.

• Groups can come after 4pm if pre -arranged.  Admission cost for seniors in a group is 7.5 NIS, and students in a group are 5 NIS.
