Overview

Hamat Gader, a 40 acre park on the south eastern part of the Kinneret, is Israel’s oldest and largest Spa.  Explore ancient Roman baths or relax in thermal mineral pools circulating every four hours at a temperature of 42 degrees Celsius.  Enjoy the Jacuzzi beds and chairs, water jets, a hot waterfall and a bubble pool.

Jewish remnants recovered include a beautiful synagogue mosaic floor from the Roman period now partially relocated to the entrance to the Supreme Court in Jerusalem.

Pools, sports facilities, professional spa massages and treatments, restaurants and the opportunity to safely view the largest Crocodile farm in the Middle East all combine for a great getaway.  The children will be entertained by the petting corner, mini zoo, parrot shows and “Splash,” a water attraction for children.

Overview

Built in 1935 on Kibbutz Degania, the first Kibbutz in Palestine, and named after Aaron David Gordon, an early Zionist who focused on religion and nature, the Beit Gordon museum represents examples of his work. Learn about the nature, agriculture and modern settlement of the Kinarot Valley and the surrounding Jordan Valley.  Walk through the three buildings that comprise the museum and look at 1) exhibits regarding natural history including many stuffed mammals, reptiles, birds and fish; 2) exhibit of birds mentioned in the Bible, and 3) a diorama of the ecosystem on the banks of the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee).

Learn about human settlement in the area with displays of archaeological artifacts and exhibits about  modern-day settlement and agriculture and a film about local wildlife. Learn about A.D. Gordon through the display of his personal items and letters. Research the nature and history of the area in the museum’s archive and library. Watch a film about the famous Rachel the Poet.
