Overview
Visit the Menachem Begin Heritage Center and learn about the sixth Prime Minister of Israel. Walk through chronologically arranged displays, beginning in Begin’s hometown of Brisk, Poland, his leadership role in the Irgun, his role in the development of an opposition political party and his role as Prime Minister of Israel.
View original and restored items, video footage and touch screen exhibits while listening to recordings of Begin’s own words. Watch a film summarizing Menachem Begin’s accomplishments as Prime Minister. View Begins’ archives and utilize the resource center for historical research.
Participate in lectures, musical performances, cultural events and educational programming on the site. View the archaeological gardens where an ancient burial cave and a silver scroll pendant inscribed with the Priestly blessing were excavated, significant as it predates the Qumran Cave letters by 700 years.
Also found at this site were Roman coins, an Ottoman weapons cache, and the remains of a Byzantine church. Enjoy the panoramic view of the Old City in Jerusalem and the road from Bethlehem, historically a strategic military site (6th – 7th centuries BCE).
