Overview
The Bar’am National Park includes the remains of the ancient village of Bar’am and its ornate 4th -5th century synagogue. The synagogue’s three impressive carved stone doorways are nearly intact and the largest one faces Jerusalem. This ruin is still in use today for weddings and events.
Visitors can also view the remains of the 19th century Maronite village of Biram and the church that still serves as a spiritual center for the community.
Walk in the nearby Bar’am Forest and view impressively tall Kermes oak trees and visit the graves said to be those of Queen Esther and Mordechai.
