Overview
Also known as The Yigael Yadin Masada Museum Gift of the Shuki Levy Foundation, this museum was built in 2007 at the site of the Masada Fortress. View artifacts from the Second Temple era arranged around three main focal points: 1) King Herod (builder of Masada), 2) the Jewish rebels during the Great Revolt, and 3) the Roman army.
View an array of items like tableware, baskets, coins, and inscriptions in a theatrical setting with dramatic lighting while listening to an audio explanation and narrative from the writings of Josephus Flavius.
The King Herod display contains a stone table, magnificent dishes, food and displays of a Herodian style banquet. This is in contrast to the Jewish rebel simple cooking pots, straw baskets and clothing. The Roman army exhibit highlights the scene of the Roman Legion that besieged Masada. The exhibit ends with with a room dedicated to Professor Yigael Yadin, the excavator of Masada.
